Does Green Tea Help You Lose Weight?
Hi Friends,
Many of us think that green tea helps in weight loss. This is not entirely true. Green tea has an indirect, but not a direct, role in weight loss. However, it is not possible to lose weight solely by consuming green tea. Those who are following a specific diet and exercising regularly to lose weight can include green tea in their diet. It can help accelerate weight loss.
Green tea should not be consumed on an empty stomach in the morning. The best time to consume green tea is 45-60 minutes after breakfast and 30-45 minutes before or after exercise.
The polyphenols present in green tea improve the process of fat oxidation. Drinking green tea regularly prevents excess sugar from entering the body's fat cells. Various ingredients in green tea increase the body's metabolic rate, and a higher metabolic rate leads to faster weight loss. It also contains caffeine, which provides energy for exercise. Regular consumption of green tea, combined with exercise, helps to reduce body fat quickly, which leads to weight loss. You will not achieve these benefits by simply drinking green tea without exercise.
Apart from helping with weight loss, green tea has many other benefits:
Green tea contains a lot of antioxidants. The flavonoids in it help keep the body fresh and energetic.
It improves digestion, allowing food to be digested more quickly.
Being rich in antioxidants, it boosts immunity.
Green tea contains a substance called catechin, which provides various benefits for the body and also helps in reducing belly fat.
An amino acid called theanine, present in green tea, plays a role in reducing fatigue or depression.
The ingredients in green tea are also beneficial for the brain. It improves memory and helps with information retention.
Green tea keeps the arteries clean, reducing the risk of heart blockage and heart attack.
Green tea helps control high blood pressure.
Regular consumption of green tea reduces the risk of tooth decay.
Although there are many benefits, consuming anything in excess is not good for the body. It is not advisable to drink more than 2-3 cups of green tea a day. Drinking too much green tea can cause insomnia, and drinking it at night may disrupt sleep. Therefore, it is better to avoid drinking green tea at night.
